The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 5th and runs through Sunday, January 11th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 12 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Bout of Books starts on Monday, and seeing as this is my last chance for a child-free read-a-thon, I plan to make the most of it. My (hopefully not too outrageous) goals are:
- beat my previous totals for…
- …books completed (5)
- …pages read (1,781)
- …time spent reading (19.5 hours)
- update the blog every day
- attend one Twitter chat
- do some challenges
- spend 30 minutes a day reading and commenting on blogs
My primary goal is to beat my stats from last year, but what I’d really love is to read a book a day. I don’t know if I have that in me – do I have any of this in me? – but in case I do, here’s my stack, with plenty of allowances for mood reading or DNFs:
- Fortune’s Pawn, by Rachel Bach
- Honor’s Knight, by Rachel Bach
- Heaven’s Queen, by Rachel Bach
- The Accident, by Linwood Barclay
- Save Yourself, by Kelly Braffet
- The Virgin Queen’s Daughter, by Ella March Chase
- Congo, by Michael Crichton
- Reconstructing Amelia, by Kimberly McCreight
- The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath
- Reversion, by Amy Rogers
- My Real Children, by Jo Walton
- The Vanishing, by Wendy Webb
