Happy Halloween!
It’s the final day of the ’90s Nostalgia Fright Fest Read-Along! I don’t know about anyone else, but this has been a lot of fun for me!
This week I read…
I was purposely saving Halloween Party to read closer to, you know, Halloween. Unfortunately, timing aside, it really wasn’t worth the wait. It’s not my least favorite of the books I read this month – that’s a toss-up between Killer’s Kiss and The Best Friend – but definitely not the best.
The highlight of the week is that I finally jumped into The Fear Street Saga, a trilogy I’ve been looking forward to re-reading since before I even conceived this event. My library didn’t have these, so I had to track them down myself (with the help of a well-timed gift card giveaway from Becca).

I have a few questions now that we’ve reached the end.
Which was your favorite book you read for this read-along?
I still love The Fear Street Saga, learning how it all started… though the adult in me wants the story to be bigger and better, not just a series of short stories set throughout the centuries (which is what these feel like). But still. Even with my high expectations, these three books were my favorite re-read of the event.
Was there any book that didn’t quite live up to your memories?
I remember really liking Switched when I first read it, but this time around it was way too predictable. I don’t feel like it’s just because I remembered how it went (because I didn’t) but maybe I had some hidden memories filling things in as I read. Either way, it was a disappointment.
What was it like re-reading books you haven’t touched for years?
The first time I did this was back in April for Dewey’s Read-a-Thon, and it was such a blast I decided that this time I’d devote a whole month to it.
Has this event inspired you to dust off any other of your old favorites?
It’s definitely something I’ll do again. Though I do think short bursts with long breaks in between is the way to go. It’s fun, but I think it would get old reading like this all the time.

Cheap Thrills
