Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is characters who are fellow book nerds, although after a quick glance through some of my favorite books – and not enough time to devote to looking deeper – I only have five here.
#1 – Dawsey Adams
(from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society)
Several characters from this book could qualify, but I chose Dawsey because he’s the one who started the plot by writing to Juliet, inspired by his enjoyment of her secondhand book.
#2 – Emma Ashton
(from The Bestseller)
Again, I had lots of options here. This book is filled with writers, but I had to choose Emma, an editor who got into publishing because of her childhood dream of getting paid to read all day.
#3 – Hermione Granger
(from Harry Potter)
When in doubt, go to the library. ‘Nuff said.
#4 – Aharon Handalman
(from Dante’s Equation)
While Rabbi Handalman may not be a book lover in the traditional sense, he does spend his days focused on words as he looks for hidden messages in the text of the Torah.
#5 – Margaret Lea
(from The Thirteenth Tale)
Margaret is a book lover’s book lover. She reads, she writes, she lives in a bookstore (okay, above it). She’s basically bibliophilia personified.
Who are some of your favorite bookish characters?
