Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is books on our winter TBR. I don’t usually do these. I might have a loose idea in my mind of what I’m going to read soon, but I still like to keep a lot of freedom and not feel locked into a plan that’s probably going to change. But given my current circumstances, I feel confident saying that these are books I definitely want to read in the next four(ish) months.
#1 – NOS4A2, by Joe Hill
The final Joe Hill novel I haven’t read yet. I guess he has another coming out next year, so I can’t be letting myself get behind again. I really enjoyed both Heart-Shaped Box and Horns, so I’m looking forward to this one.
#2 – A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini
And the Mountains Echoed caught me so off guard. I wasn’t expecting it to be anything special, but it was. If I can read both of Hosseini’s other novels in the next few months, great; if not, this is the one that – for whatever reason – is calling to me more.
#3 – The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath
This has been on my TBR for such a long time, and from the little I know about it, I probably don’t want to be reading it in the throes of postpartum depression. So I figure it’s now or… well, not never, but a long wait before I’m emotionally ready to tackle it.
#4 – The Golem and the Jinni, by Helene Wecker
I’m both excited for this one and not. It sounds so interesting, but it got so much hype I’m not sure it can live up to, and I have a feeling it’s going to be a slow burn (which can be great, but very different from a book that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go). It’s a book I definitely want to be able to devote large chunks of time to, which just isn’t going to be a possibility for very much longer.
#5-7 – the Paradox trilogy, by Rachel Bach
I’ve wanted to read this series since before it was finished, but I was waiting until I could read it all in one shot. Well, now it’s finished, and I still haven’t gotten to it.
#8-10 – the Mistborn trilogy, by Brandon Sanderson
More books that have been on my TBR forever. I really don’t read a lot of epic fantasy, but I’ve heard great things about this series. I know there are more books, but I’m just sticking with the original trilogy for now.
Together with my planned ITW books, that’s 19 books I really want to read before the end of my pregnancy. Plus 7 of the re-reads I listed on my TTT a few weeks ago, bringing the total to 26. If baby cooperates, I have until the beginning of April. If not… well, I might not even have all of winter, who knows?
What are you looking forward to reading soon?
