The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. –From the Bout of Books team

I took a break from commenting on blogs today. I just had to. I knew the first day that this goal was going to be harder than I’d realized, because I visited probably between 15-20 blogs, looking for just five that I had anything to respond to. I mean, yes I could leave an extremely generic comment about Bout of Books on just about any blog that’s linked up, but I don’t want to leave generic comments. I want to comment on a blog because I actually connected to something in the post. And it’s getting harder and harder as my pool of new blogs becomes smaller and smaller, partly due to my crossing another five blogs off the list every day, and partly because participation seems to drop a little each day.
I may comment on more blogs tomorrow. I may not. I’ll probably (though it won’t count toward my goals) check out and comment on people’s wrap-up posts when Bout of Books is over (reflections on the week will be more interesting and encourage more discussion than a list of books and stats). And I’ll continue to follow those blogs I’ve already found. Right now, though, it’s just more of a headache than anything, and I don’t want to treat other bloggers like they’re some kind of obligation.
One more day!
