The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. –From the Bout of Books team
Bout of Books starts on Monday, so I should probably set out my goals for the week.
I’ve read all of Douglas Preston’s books written with Lincoln Child, as well as Child’s individual thrillers… I’m hoping to use this read-a-thon as an opportunity to blitz through Preston’s.
I have more important goals than just my reading ones, though. I mean, I already read a lot. Finishing a book in under two days isn’t uncommon, and though keeping up that pace for a solid week should be a decent challenge, I definitely want to take advantage of the social aspect of Bout of Books as well. That’s part of what makes an event like this is so great.
And since I’ve always heard it’s good to stay flexible when attempting a read-a-thon, these are the other books I currently have out from the library… in case I either speed through or deside to abort my Preston-a-thon.
So, my official goals are…
- read four books
- comment on five blogs every day
- participate in two Twitter chats
If I do more, great, but this is what I really want to accomplish.
Who else is doing Bout of Books?
